Glass and quartz microfiber filters form a random, tortuous fiber network that captures particles on the surface and throughout the media depth. This structure supports fast flow and high particulate loading, making the media useful as a direct analytical filter or as protection for a downstream membrane.

Borosilicate glass media with binder provide additional handling strength. Binder-free glass prioritizes purity and gravimetric stability. Quartz microfiber is selected where high temperature, chemical resistance or low trace-element background is important. Grade, format and retention must be matched to the analytical method.
